Manchester United sits top on the English premier league table after a comfortable victory over Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

It was a game that saw the return of Cristiano Ronaldo making his debut for the Red Devils.

Cristiano Ronaldo announced his return to Old Trafford in his usual way of scoring, he got a brace in the game. Nobody expected anything less from him. This is Cristiano Ronaldo the Greatest Of All Time.

He has told everyone that his return to Manchester United is not for vacation. He has rejoined Manchester United for more success.

HOW IT ALL HAPPENED IN THE MATCH

After being frustrated by a tenacious Newcastle team, Ronaldo's goal on the stroke of half-time was precisely what Manchester United needed.

Mason Greenwood, who had scored three goals in the first three games, took aim with a right-footed drive that Freddie Woodman couldn't hold on to, and Cristiano Ronaldo was there to seize the opportunity, much to the joy of a raucous Old Trafford crowd

Newcastle was determined to ruin Cristiano Ronaldo's homecoming, and Javier Manquillo drew them level as the visitors broke forward on 56 minutes. However, Cristiano Ronaldo was at it again six minutes later, slotting home in front of a euphoric Stretford End.

10 minutes from time, Bruno Fernandes added a stunning third, while Jesse Lingard rounded off the triumph with a spectacular effort in injury time.

OLE GUNNAR THOUGHTS AFTER THE GAME

Manchester United Boss sat down with the media to answer a few questions after the game.

1] ON THE RUTHLESSNESS OF CRISTIANO RONALDO

"Cristiano is ruthless when it comes to important events. He is methodical. He has energised the team as well as everyone else in the vicinity. It's ideal for him because you can see what he's all about: detecting the moment and smelling the danger, but he's also grown into a true team player. He's grown into a superb goal scorer. He had a great game, dropping in and connecting the play nicely."

2]DID YOU THINK OF NOT STARTING CRISTIANO RONALDO

"No. Obviously not. Cristiano Ronaldo is all about this. This was a day to remember for everyone."

3]SMILES ON PEOPLE'S FACES

"When you win a game, you feel good about yourself. You love it a lot when you see fans having a good time. Today, there were a lot of expectations. They all came through."

4]RESPONSE AFTER NEWCASTLE EQUALISED

"When it comes down to one each, you never know what will happen. But I believed we had made a good compromise. We were playing ball when Luke [Shaw] turned on the afterburners! Cristiano Ronaldo is a master at timing his runs, and he really went for it there. Bruno scored a wonderful goal. Bruno and his quality are well-known in those locations. I'm in a great deal of joy."

5]THE TEAM STRENGTH IN-DEPTH

"I'd want to congratulate the club and everyone involved for bringing in players to provide competition. We'll be bringing competitors, but they'll be nice individuals, and we'll have a good and strong team."

6]UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ON TUESDAY AGAINST YOUNG BOYS

"This is what it's like to be at Manchester United [getting ready to fly out on Monday to play Young Boys in Uefa Champions League on Tuesday in Switzerland]. You play a game that matters every three or four days, in front of a stadium and supporters who believe."
