Aubameyang celebrates after scoring in North London derby game

Arsenal produced a sublime performance as they demolished Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 to leapfrog their North London rivals in the Premier League table. Tottenham Hotspur has now lost three consecutive Premier League games, all against London clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris made history playing in the 20th North London derby in this century.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka returns to the starting lineup after completing his three-match suspension. His return sees Nicolas Pepe has to settle in the bench.

Just before the kickoff, tribute was paid to the great Jimmy Greaves who passed away just recently.

Arsenal came into this game full of confidence after three consecutive wins and this was evident as they soon stamped their authority in the game.

Arsenal capitalised on a poor start from the visitors to take an early lead. Bukayo Saka teased Sergio Reguilón and provide a brilliant low cross that Emile Smith Rowe scored for the first goal. Their lead was increased 15 minutes later after a spectacular counter-attack in which Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's reverse pass isolated Smith Rowe against Japhet Tanganga before the midfielder delivered the ball to the Gabonese striker, who struck a superb effort past Hugo Lloris. Spurs were unable to cope with the hosts' ferocity and lost a third goal just before half-time.

When Harry Kane took the ball away, another counter ensued, with Saka taking advantage of a deflection to beat Lloris once more. Nuno Espirito Santo's team had been completely outplayed and needed to make a significant improvement after the half.

SECOND HALF TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR GETS A CONSOLATION GOAL

Spurs made a double substitution at half-time, allowing them to represent a greater danger moving forward while Arsenal let off the gas. With a well-drilled effort, Kane, who had hitherto been non-existent in the final third, finally pushed Aaron Ramsdale into a save. After being hauled down by Ben White, the England captain had a penalty appeal turned down before wasting a golden opportunity after being sent through by Eric Dier's long pass. Reguilón found Heung-Min Son in space for a late consolation for the visitors, but Mikel Arteta's side held on for a comfortable victory and preserved their great home record against their arch-rivals, losing only once in 29 Premier League games.

Nuno Espirito has to quickly do something about this losing streak of games from his team.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is no stranger to derby matches, as a player, he has played in so many derby games. This was evident in the game plan in today's North London derby.
