Is there anyone still doubting Chelsea as title contenders? I don't think there's any. The Blues have gone to Anfield and came home with a point, despite playing an entire half with 10 players and now they returned home with all three points from White Hart Lane.
Chelsea beat Tottenham 3-0 away from home on Sunday afternoon to extend their Premier League winning streak to six games against their London rivals in the current season.
Prior to the world's first CO2-neutral football match, a minute's applause was conducted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to remember former England, 'Spurs' and Chelsea striker Jimmy Greaves, whose passing was announced just this morning.
This time, there was no Romelu Lukaku on the scoresheet. Instead, the goals came from unlikely players.
Chelsea failed to produce a single shot on target in the first 45 minutes for the first time under Thomas Tuchel.
Thiago Silva scored from a corner for his first goal since a set-piece strike against West Ham in a derby match shortly before Christmas last year, and N'Golo Kante added his first goal in just over two years.
The midfielder's deflected strike was fortunate, but the victory was well-deserved given the manner the Blues improved their performance after a closely balanced first half with limited chances.
Aside from a Harry Kane shot that Arrizabalaga comfortably saved, Chelsea cruised to victory, adding a third goal in stoppage time when Timo Werner's low cross was headed in by fellow countryman Antonio Rüdiger. They are now joint-top of the Premier League table with Liverpool, and for the first time in the league, they have won their last six away London derbies. Tottenham, on the other hand, has gone three games without a win, conceding eight goals in the process.
MANCHESTER UNITED GOT THE JOB DONE
David De Gea saved a penalty in the 93rd minute to ensure that the Red Devils return to Old Trafford with all three points.
Manchester United came from a goal down to defeat the Hammers two goals to one. It is a tough one for David Moyes team, as Jesse Lingard scored the winning goal. Lingard was on loan at the Hammers last season to reignite his career.
A goalmouth battle erupted in the first half, with David de Gea save West Ham's Jared Bowen before Tomá Souek clattered the rebound over the bar. Meanwhile, Fabianski produced three excellent saves, the best of which came when he superbly turned Bruno Fernandes' powerful shot against his post. On the half-hour mark, the hosts seized the lead via Saiid Benrahma, who blasted a long-range drive that took a nasty deflection and caught de Gea off guard. Cristiano Ronaldo restored parity moments later, tapping home from close range at the second attempt for the third game in a row.
Ronaldo was a continuous thorn in West Ham's side, forcing two more superb saves from Fabianski either side of half-time, while De Gea comfortably denied Souček when the Hammers had a rare sight of goal. After the break, however, there was not the same potency as before the break, prompting both managers to use their substitutes. Lingard, one of them, would be the one to steal the points for the visitors. The England international slid past Kurt Zouma in the box before unleashing a spectacular strike into the top corner.
Substitute Mark Noble, who had been brought on particularly to take a penalty, watched De Gea save his spot-kick after Luke Shaw handled in the box in the dying stages.
Manchester United's unbeaten away record in the English Premier League now stands at 29 games, keeping pace with Liverpool at the top of the table, while West Ham stays on eight points after suffering their first defeat of the season.
