Adams, who was born on March 10, 1948, in Dakar, Senegal, began his career at Fontainebleu before moving to Nimes.
He was one of the first Black players to participate in the team at the time CNN reported.
Adams played for Nimes for three years, from 1970 to 1973, and then for PSG from 1977 to 1979, after signing from Nice.
Adams had surgery on a torn tendon in his knee in March 1982. However, CNN reports stated that the hospital staff was on strike at the time of his surgery, and he was being cared for by an anesthesiologist with seven other patients and a trainee who was out of their depth.
Both BBC and CNN claim that "many blunders" were made during the treatment, Adams was intubated wrongly, with one tube blocking the passage to his lungs, causing cardiac arrest and brain damage.
After entering into a coma, he was cared for at his home in France for decades.
