Britney Spears won a legal victory in her battle to reclaim control of her life on Wednesday.

Jamie Spears, the singer's father, has been removed as conservator of her estimated $60 million fortune by a Los Angeles judge, who has appointed a temporary successor to monitor her money.

Britney Spears' lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, described her father as a "cruel, nasty, and terrible guy," adding that his client wants him gone "now."

"Britney deserves to be free of her father's conservatorship tomorrow," Rosengart said. "It's what my client wants, what my client requires, and what my client is entitled to."

Based on reporting from New York Times, he cited "unfathomable" behaviour. Rosengart accused the elder Spears of planting a recording device in his daughter's room, an allegation that Jamie Spears' representative did not reply to when approached by CNN before.

"We discovered Mr Spears did something he couldn't explain," Rosengart said. "He directed [a] security crew to install a listening device in Britney's bedroom, which my client paid for."

"It's not proof, it's rhetoric," Vivian Thoreen, Jamie Spears' attorney, responded.

Judge Penny has scheduled a hearing for November 12 to evaluate the request. A new hearing has been scheduled for December 13 to address the case's remaining issues.

Britney Spears made an impassioned plea to remove the court-ordered arrangement over the summer, calling her father's conservatorship as "f—-ing cruelty."

"All I want is my life back. It's been 13 years, and it's time to go on "In June, Spears stated.

Since its establishment, Jamie Spears has served as conservator of his daughter's estate. Until he stepped down in 2019, he was also the conservator of her person, supervising her health and medical difficulties.

At the time, Jodi Montgomery was named conservator of Spears' person, a position she still retains.

Spears' supporters gathered outside the courthouse on Wednesday to celebrate the outcome of the hearing.

Spears' fiancé, Sam Asghari, credited her fans.

"Britney should be set free!" He commented on Instagram, "Congratulations!!!!" "She was the one who did it." "There's a reason her fanbase is known as the army."
